Mai Dubai will present the Dubai Run on the Sheikh Zayed Road, 20 November. This race welcomes runners of all ages, fitness levels, and ages to take on the challenge to run the distance.
This fourth edition of the event will see thousands of runners take to the city’s huge running track. There are two routes available: the 5km route is suitable for families and all levels of runners, while the 10km route is for more experienced runners. Both routes begin near the Museum of the Future, Sheikh Zayed Road.
It’s the largest and most popular free run in the world, and it is a key highlight of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC).
Route 5 km
It passes Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera, and Burj Khalifa. The route is 5km long and very flat, making it perfect for families with children and social runners.
Route 10 km
The route runs 10km along Sheikh Zayed Road from Dubai Canal to Al Mustaqbal Street, near DIFC. It’s a longer route and is better suited for more experienced runners.
Dubai Run, a Dubai Fitness Challenge flagship event is aligned to the directives of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Crown Prince of Dubai) to transform Dubai into one the most active cities in the world and to further the vision of Dubai being the best place to live, work, and visit.
In 2021, there will be 146,000 participants
Last year, 146,000 runners, walkers, joggers, and wheelers took part in Dubai Run. It was the largest community fitness event worldwide and set a new record.
Halloween Run
Expect even more people to sign up this year and plenty of training opportunities will be available. These include a family-friendly Halloween race at Dubai Festival City on Oct 29, the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon (October 30), Expo City Dubai Run (November 12), and the Dubai Women’s Run (November 13).
Dubai Fitness Challenge’s biggest lineup to date will be this year. It will feature an exciting month of inclusive and fun fitness activities across two fitness villages, DP World Kite Beach Fitness Village and RTA Last Exit Al Khawaneej Fitness Village. There will also be 20 community fitness hubs and thousands of classes throughout the city.
Dubai Women’s Run
Dubai: On November 13, the ninth edition of the Dubai Women’s Run will be held. This race is the largest of its kind in the region for women. Plan Group B, in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and the Emirates Athletics Federation, organize the race on Blue Waters Island in Dubai. The Dubai Sports Council Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will oversee the race that covers distances of 3, 5, and 10 km.
Over 6,000 women from all walks will participate in this year’s race. Women and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 can participate in this event. Children aged 8-12 years old may also run or walk with an adult.
Registration for the race is open and will close on November 6 at 11.59 pm. The cost of the run starts at Dh100.
