EUROPE, October 19, 2026: Chinese automakers are increasing their efforts to compete in Europe’s premium-car market, positioning advanced in-car technology and electrification against long-established luxury manufacturers.
Reuters reported on October 16 that brands including Avatr and Denza are pursuing European buyers traditionally served by companies such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Technology as a differentiator
Premium EV competition increasingly involves software interfaces, driver-assistance functions, charging capability and cabin design as well as traditional measures such as performance and comfort.
Barriers to growth
European expansion also depends on dealer networks, service coverage, brand recognition, trade rules and customer confidence. A manufacturer’s launch plan does not guarantee significant sales or market-share gains.
