DUBAI, October 19, 2026: Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin in the United Arab Emirates on Monday, February 8, 2027, according to astronomical calculations reported by UAE news outlets. The dates remain provisional until the relevant official crescent-moon sighting announcement.
The holy month, which corresponds to Ramadan 1448 AH in the Islamic calendar, is expected to last 29 or 30 days. Eid Al Fitr could therefore begin on Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10, 2027, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.

How is the Ramadan start date confirmed in the UAE?
Ramadan begins with the new Islamic lunar month. The UAE’s moon-sighting authorities review reports of the crescent and announce the official start of the month. Astronomical projections help residents plan ahead, but the actual date may differ from early forecasts.
Khaleej Times reported in August that astronomical calculations suggested the Shaaban crescent would not be visible in the UAE on the relevant observation date, making February 8 the expected first day of Ramadan. Gulf News also identified February 8 as the projected start.
When will Eid Al Fitr 2027 be celebrated?
Eid Al Fitr marks the beginning of Shawwal, immediately after Ramadan. If Ramadan lasts 29 days from February 8, Eid could fall on March 9. If it lasts 30 days, Eid could begin on March 10. The final date and applicable UAE public holidays should be confirmed through official government announcements closer to the occasion.
Fasting and prayer times
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, ending the fast at Maghrib with iftar. Suhoor is the pre-dawn meal, completed before Fajr. Exact prayer and fasting times vary by emirate and date, so residents should consult an official local prayer timetable when Ramadan approaches.
Why Ramadan moves earlier each year
The Islamic calendar follows lunar months and is roughly 10 to 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar. As a result, Ramadan moves through different seasons over time.
