WASHINGTON, October 20, 2026: The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a Class I recall involving approximately 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products from Kayem Foods Inc. because they may have been stored at unsafe temperatures.
The October 17 federal notice says the products were made approximately March 31 through October 7, 2026, and shipped to retail and foodservice locations nationwide and to Hong Kong. The agency says there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the recalled items.
Why the products are being recalled
FSIS said the issue came to light after a retailer reported receiving products at warm temperatures on October 1. The company investigated and identified temperature deviations in a warehouse cooler. Kayem Foods said a cooling-system malfunction caused the problem and announced a voluntary recall on October 16.
Which products are affected?
The recall covers numerous ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, including hot dogs, sausages, bacon, ham and deli meats sold under multiple brands. Consumers should not assume every product from those brands is included; they should compare the product name, UPC, lot code and label against the official recall documents.
Affected products bear one of these establishment numbers inside the USDA inspection mark: EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A, or EST. M 9520. The establishment number alone may not be sufficient to identify an affected package, so check the official product list.
What consumers should do
Do not eat a recalled product. USDA advises consumers to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about possible illness should contact a healthcare professional. Consumers can reach Kayem Foods customer service at 800-426-6100.
The recall is classified as Class I, FSIS’s highest-risk category, but the agency reported no confirmed illnesses as of its notice.
