Parts of Sharjah and Fujairah experienced heavy rain and hail earlier this week, while the National Centre of Meteorology’s outlook indicated a further chance of showers on Thursday, October 22.
Where did rain and hail fall?
Reports from October 19 and 20 described rain in parts of Sharjah, including Al Madam and along the Sharjah–Kalba road, with hail reported around Al Dhaid and Masafi. Fujairah’s mountainous areas also saw heavy downpours and water flowing through some streams.
October 22 outlook: what the earlier forecast said
Khaleej Times’ October 20 report, citing NCM guidance, indicated a chance of showers in eastern and western areas on Thursday, October 22. It also described possible fog or mist during humid nights and early mornings. That earlier outlook is not a live observation or confirmation of rain at any location today. Consult the latest NCM warnings for conditions before setting out.
What about Friday and the weekend?
The same report described Friday, October 23, as fair to partly cloudy, with cloudy periods in eastern and western areas. An NCM meteorologist said the weather system could weaken on October 23–24, while remaining moisture could still support mountain cloud formation. Forecasts may change as the system develops.
Safety advice
Drivers should slow down in reduced visibility, heed electronic road signs and avoid entering flooded roads or wadis. Check the latest National Centre of Meteorology alerts before travelling into mountainous districts, as conditions can change quickly.
