MANAMA, October 19, 2026: Bahrain hosted a Gulf Cooperation Council Ministerial Council meeting on October 18, bringing together representatives of the six member states to discuss regional developments and cooperation.
Gulf security discussions
Gulf news agencies reported that the council condemned attacks affecting Saudi Arabia attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement. The meeting also addressed shared diplomatic and security concerns.
What the meeting means
The GCC includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Ministerial meetings provide a forum for consultation, but expressions of solidarity do not by themselves establish that a military deployment or other operational measure has been agreed.
Further measures should be attributed to official communiqués or statements by member governments.
