Pakistan moves to daily fuel-price reviews
The latest adjustment comes as Pakistan moves to a daily fuel-pricing framework amid volatility in international energy markets. Under the reported system, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) publishes daily ex-depot prices based on a rolling seven-day average of international petroleum prices. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the mechanism aims to reflect global price movements more promptly, according to Geo News.
Fuel rates may change with subsequent notifications. Consumers should check the latest Petroleum Division notices and OGRA announcements rather than assuming the October 20 prices will remain in effect for an extended period.
Why fuel prices remain volatile
Changes in international petroleum prices and supply conditions continue to affect Pakistan’s domestic pricing decisions. The latest reduction provides some immediate relief to petrol and diesel buyers, but the daily review system also means future prices could move in either direction.
