In Southern California Walmart store is going to close next month. The company looked at all the details and decided to shut down the store in West Covina. A Walmart spokesperson said they have lots of stores in the U.S., but some don’t make enough money. Even though Walmart overall is doing well, this particular store didn’t do as good as they wanted.
All 237 workers at the West Covina store can move to another nearby Walmart store. In the Covina area, there are 16 stores that have thousands of employees, and there’s a bigger Walmart Super Center just four miles away from the closing one.
Walmart assured that there are no plans to close more stores in Southern California right now. In the whole state, there are 309 Walmart stores providing jobs for over 100,000 people.
Walmart Communications Director Alicia Anger shared thanks to the local customers in a statement.
Alicia Anger, the Walmart Communications Director, expressed gratitude to the customers who allowed them to serve at the West Covina store. She mentioned their commitment to serving customers at any of the other 16 locations in the area, online at walmart.com, and through delivery.
The Southern California Walmart store, along with its pharmacy, will officially close its doors on March 29.
